MICHELLE PENDER & MADELEINE MITCHELL
Two of the North West's most longstanding teachers with a combined teaching experience of 28 years.

Michelle runs 5 classes a week in the Greater Manchester area, including a monthly drum workshop held at her belly dance costume retail shop in Eccles, Urban Dervish. A popular teacher known nationwide for workshops at such prestigious events as Raqs Britannia, Tribal London, JOY and MAJMA.

Madeleine teaches a weekly class in Manchester and holds monthly workshops in Manchester and Warrington. Her dance career spans 14 years as professional dancer working on the restaurant circuit and at weddings and Arab dance events. She has taught at JOY, Raqs Britannia and Celebrating Dance. Both Michelle and Madeleine have extensive experience working in Stage and Theatre, and working as troupe dirctors and choreographers.

HILARY SHEPHERD
Since startng her dance training from the age of eight with Madeleine Mitchell, Hilary has evolved into one of the UK's most talented and watcheable professional bellydancers. For over ten years now, Hilary has travelled nationwide to learn this beautiful form of dance and attended intensive workshops with master teachers both from the UK and Egypt. Hilary is a skillful and entertaining dancer and performs frequently in restaurants, parties and large corporate events. Her unique style of dance is heavily influenced by top Cairo performers Fifi Abdou, Mona Saiid, Randa Kamal and Asmahan, as well as UK dancers Madeleine Mitchell, and Michelle Pender.

Her fluid, graceful and elegant style is peerless.

JOANNA DOWEY

Joanna has been dancing Arabic dance for the last 10 years, and has a background in ballet and yoga. She teaches classes in Hulme and leads the troupe, Northern Belly Company.

She has been inspired by taking classes with many wonderful dancers from England, the USA and Egypt as well as The Uzume from The Netherlands. Recently she has taken part in Contact Improvisation workshops. She will be leading a fusion workshop taking elements of tribal style and improvisation to create a unique choreography for each participant.

 

AMANDA PHILLIPS

Amanda has worked as a professional dancer for over 8 years and is a popular performer at Arab weddings and social events. Her style of dance is skillful and adept and very Egyptian. Amanda also teaches weekly classes around the Greater Manchester area.

 

JENNY BENT (ZALIAH)

A professional dancer & performer for over 10 years, Zaliah’s first major performance was in 1997, dancing with Legendary Psychedelic Rockers Hawkwind on their UK Tour!!
Since then, Zaliah has gone on to dance at a huge & diverse variety of public & private events including, weddings, corporate functions, children’s parties & charity Dinners!
Previous clients include: The Crazy World of Arthur Brown, John Lewis, The Labour Party, Cancer Research, Park Christmas Hampers, Knutsford Little Theatre & Shell Oil.
Zaliah is totally passionate about dancing & loves performing to all kinds of music! She also works with schools, Brownie groups and runs private group dance classes for ladies in Cheshire & South Manchester!
