At this workshop Kathy will be teaching a short Turkish Oryental choreography with zils (finger cymbals). She will explain and demonstrate rhythms, how to count the music, dominant hand and basic technique, and how to use the zils as the musical instrument they are, rather than the prop they are often mistakenly considered to be. Combinations from the choreography will be drilled so that students really get to grips with playing at the same time as dancing. Handouts will be provided. Please bring your own finger cymbals with you. Good for beginners.
